All one-dimensional economies doom themselves to unevitable one-dimensional governments which lead them to a slow death of a thousand cuts. To wit, all the Middle Eastern countries with major petroleum reserves. Venezuela, Bolivia in So. America. Their governments pursue the easy fruits of oil profits and ignore the difficult social problems. Russia in goods and services today resembles an America of 150 years ago, except for the bombers flying around the Atlantic. Pity.
